Us
The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party. This
means that we believe in spreading power, wealth and opportunity
amongst all in society, rather than concentrating them
in the hands of a rich minority. The Labour Party grew
out of the Trades Union movement around a hundred years
ago, and has continued to fight to improve conditions
for working people. The Party has also been instrumental
in building our modern welfare state which provides for
everyone in times of illness, unemployment, poverty and
old age.
Ryedale
Constituency Labour Party (CLP) covers the Ryedale District
Council area, as well as Filey on the East coast, and
some of the Eastern parts of the City of York. The party
is organised into four branches:
North
Ryedale - covering the area around Helmsley, Kirbymoorside
and Pickering.
Malton and Norton - plus the outlying villages as far
as Sherburn in the East and Flaxton in the West.
Filey - part of Scarborough Borough Council's area.
South Ryedale - part of York City Council's area around
Huntington and Strensall.
Party membership is now organised nationally, so if you
are interested in joining and supporting our work visit
the Party's main
website. Alternatively, if you live in Ryedale, send
your postal address to our membership
secretary and we will send you a form.
